Time to get back in the saddle

My name is Natasha and I have been on the hunt to find some great days out for everyone to enjoy in Cheshire.

Last Sunday I traveled to Cheshire Trekking at Buttercup Stables in Tattenhall, to enjoy a 'Coffee and Cake Ride' with my Mother-In-law. They are a small family-run business and they offer hacking, trekking and horse riding lessons. They accept beginners to advanced riders so it doesn’t matter if you have never ridden before (like me).

From Northwich, it took around 35 minutes to get to. We were advised to arrive 15 minutes before our booked ride time as we had some health and safety forms to fill out beforehand. The staff were very friendly and they even had a lovely cat that of course, I had to have a cuddle with!

We were then shown the horses we would be riding. I can’t lie, I am a total novice and had never ridden a horse before so you could say that I was a little nervous! However, the horses were so calm and lovely along with the instructors. We were given one-to-one instruction on how to control the horses and what we would need to know throughout the trek, which was simple and easy to remember. Worth noting that there was an instructor at the front with you at all times too and I believe you can ask for further assistance on the trek if required.

The roads were very quiet and we trekked through lovely country lanes with beautiful views. They offer rides around the foothills of Beeston, Peckforton and the Bickerton Hills. Our ride was just under 90 minutes and the horses were easy to manage (mine practically took me around on its own!) It was so calming and nice to be outdoors doing something different.

When we arrived back at the stables, they helped us off the horses and we made our way back to their coffee shop. We then both enjoyed a lovely cupcake and a hot chocolate before we left! Overall it was a fantastic experience that I would definitely recommend and I look forward to visiting again soon.

Their 'Coffee and Cake Rides' go out 4 times a day at 10 am, 12 pm, 2 pm, and 4 pm. They are £35 per person and you can also buy gift vouchers. Which would make a great gift idea! To book you can call them on 07969037361 or contact them via their Facebook page.
